Skills for Life

Encourage a learning culture in your work place and see the benefits

What is Skills for Life?

Skills for Life is the national strategy for improving adult Literacy and Numeracy in England, an essential element in ensuring that we can deliver world-class skills to successfully compete with those of rapidly growing world economies. Tackling poor basic skills in the workplace is an important strand. 50% of those who would benefit are employed.

What are the benefits to employers?

Skills for Life development is an integral part of building up the confidence and skills of employees and improving their performance at work. Improved performance leads to increased productivity, lower staff turnover and absenteeism and a more confident and professional workforce.

What are the benefits to employees?

Often employees who are working towards NVQ qualifications need support with English and Maths. This support can take the form of preparation for NVQ or can run alongside delivery of the NVQ. When delivered as part of the NVQ process support is proven to increase achievement rates.
Our approach is positive encouragement for employees to identify their particular skills gaps, brush up in these areas and achieve nationally recognised Adult English and Maths qualifications.

How will they fit into a work-based training programme?

Skills for Life English and maths courses are fully funded and may be generic or contextualised to your company’s working practices or systems to meet your requirements. They are delivered in the workplace on a flexible basis to ensure the minimum of disruption.

Encourage a learning culture in your workplace and see the benefits.
