TU DIGITAL DIVIDE LEARNING CENTRE

The TU Learning Centre is able to offer workers and their families the following services:-

  • Impartial information advice and guidance for careers and learning
  • Access to learndirect online learning, with tutor support
  • Access to IT courses such as CLAIT, ECDLand iTQ
  • Initial and diagnostic skills assessments
  • A chance to achieve nationally recognised qualifications in Literacy and Numeracy
  • A range of flexible learning opportunities to meet the demands of shift working
  • Access to a wide college portfolio and qualifications such as NVQs, Apprenticeships, GCSEs, Foundation Degrees
  • Centre staff work with Union Learning Representatives and employers at workplace level to develop and support quality programmes of learning
  • Assist ULRs in signposting for their members
  • We train and support workplace learning representatives to support their members in accessing learning.
  • Provide ULRs with the knowledge and understanding of funding methodologies so that their members can access affordable learning.

Knowsley College TU Learning Centre supports the work of 6 unionlearn work place centres and the college has invested in both software and hardware for these centres.

Union Learning Representatives working in the centres are trained and supported by Knowsley Community College.  Regular tutor support is given to the centres in both Skills for Life and Information Technology.

The centres are able to access a variety of courses, both mainstream FE and learndirect.

iTQ is an IT qualification which is rapidly growing in popularity and the workplace learning centres are supported by visiting KCC NVQ assessors who support candidates in the achievement of their NVQ.
