Work Based Learning & Apprenticeship Training

 

Knowsley Community College has been a provider of WBL/Apprenticeships for many years now, meeting the changing needs and demands of learners and government throughout that time and successfully work in partnership with over 500 employers throughout Merseyside and the North West region.

The current provision includes fifteen vocational areas from Accountancy to Construction, Health & Social Care Cadets to Motor Mechanics and so much more. With starts throughout the year, from pre- level two if necessary, (Entry to Employment) with the potential to reach Advanced level 3 in preparation for levels 4/5.

Training is funded by the Learning and Skills Council (LSC) and supported by an employer/placement provider, who will pay the apprentices wages. Levels 2&3 can be completed independently or by progressing from level 2 on to level 3.

To access WBL, 16-18yrs are the guaranteed age group and 19-24yrs can access on request to LSC, there are partial costs to an employer for over 19’s.

Vocational education can also now be accessed in some areas under the Young Apprenticeships during school years 10 & 11.

If a young person gains employment and wishes to access apprenticeship training, contact the college with employer’s details and we will endeavour to complete all other arrangements.
